Closer to Home
With Hearts Drawn to Heaven
There was a point on the drive home from vacation when I told my kids that we were closer to home than we were to Las Vegas. The allure of the hotels and entertainment gave way to the dry browns of the desert, which eventually yielded to patches of green and the familiar sights of our city. With each passing mile came a growing sense of familiarity, comfort, and peace.
For the Christian, every passing day and every breath we take brings us closer to home. As the attractions of this world begin to fade, our hearts are increasingly drawn to heaven. Sorrow turns to joy. Faith turns to sight. Prayer turns to praise. We travel with hope, sustained by the strength of God. And by his grace, we’ll make it home.
