Growth in Worship
Electric Guitars
Last week Jess challenged my to play my electric guitar in our worship service, and I’m glad she did! Here are some reflections specifically on that challenge:
I’m challenged to keep pushing forward as a musician and as a worship leader. Applying what I wrote yesterday, it’s easy for me to become stagnant as I get older. If we want to help our church grow in how we worship God, that also means being willing to push myself first.
I’m reminded that musical worship can come in different ways. It’s easy to get used to the sound of our church, but familiarity doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the only—or even the best—way to worship.
It echoes the picture that Paul paints of the church, where we all have different gifts and abilities. Specifically, I get to put my different electric guitar skills to use!
I’m taking on another challenge this Sunday — leading music in our youth worship service! I haven’t played with the youth for a long time. Would you please say a quick prayer for me?

The Restoration of All Things
