How to Use Money
For God and for Good
Yesterday, I wrote about the spiritual consequences of loving money. Today, I hope to show that while the Bible gives many warnings about money, it also teaches that money can be used to glorify God.
While there are many verses that talk about the dangers of loving money, the Bible also shows how we can use money for good:
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. (1 Timothy 6:17–19)
Money is a means of doing good works and blessing others. Wealthy Christians should view their money as a way to meet the needs of others and advance God’s kingdom. We cannot hoard our money if we want to help others. When we give of our money, we demonstrate that our hope is in God, trusting that he will provide for our needs.
