Reflections After VBS
Three Personal Thoughts
We survived another year of VBS! I’m joking but not really. My job is to support Jess in whatever ways I can—especially by taking care of the kids. But that’s a story for another time. Today, I want to share a few things God reminded me of throughout the week:
I’m so thankful to have Jess as my wife. One of the reasons I fell in love with her was seeing the way she used her gifts to serve God. Watching her serve during VBS—even though it requires so much time, energy, and effort—is something I’m grateful to support. I’m proud of her, her heart for the kids, and her heart for God.
I’m glad my kids get to experience VBS, but more important than the experience itself is that they’re being exposed to Christ. I’m thankful they get to be at church and surrounded by God’s people, but I want them to know Jesus through it all. It made me so happy to hear them singing that Jesus is the Light of the World!
While VBS is always a special week, I’m reminded that I get the joy of serving in children’s ministry throughout the year. I have the privilege of teaching, preaching, and singing with these kids on a regular basis. God continually reminds me not to take that privilege for granted, and I truly cherish it. I didn’t always have a heart for this kind of ministry, but God changed my heart. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Him by serving these kids.
I’m leading worship music and preaching to the children this Sunday! Would you please say a quick prayer for me?
