Wisdom Waits Within Reach
Asking for Help from the God Who Gives Generously

“Why didn’t you ask me for help?” It’s a question I often find myself asking my kids. They’re getting better—but still need reminding every now and then.
Earlier today, we were working on homework together, and one of the kids just couldn’t keep it together. Self-reliance and self-sufficiency led to self-sabotage. Frustration. Anger. Outbursts. It all happened so quickly.
What made it hurt more was that I was sitting right there—easily accessible, ready with my wisdom. Sometimes I’ll say no. Sometimes I’ll give them advice. Sometimes I’ll even do it for them. And this was one of those times when I was ready to give. I was eager to help—but I wasn’t asked. Wisdom waits within reach.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” — James 1:5
