I know I mostly share about my preaching, teaching, and worship leading — the more visible side of my ministry — but there’s another way I like to serve when I can: serving as a runner. I’m talking about being the person who runs errands, does whatever odd job is needed, and assists whoever is in charge. I’ve served this way in three specific areas:
VBS. VBS is a great place for a runner because there’s just so much going on. I think this was the first place I served as a runner, and it’s a lot of fun being around the kids — but not actually having to work with them, haha.
Church retreats. This is probably my favorite place to serve as a runner. You get to move around a new environment and even get camp admin privileges. There’s also a good chance you’ll be able to catch most, if not all, of the sermons!
Awana. I give the messages in Awana, so when I’m not giving the message, that means I’m free to help out wherever I’m needed. Most of the time, I’m actually a floater. So I get to float around to different groups and meet different students.
Serving as a runner is both enjoyable and humbling. It’s fun because I get to do different things at church, and it keeps my pride in check because I don’t always have to be on the stage. It’s a blessing, honor, and privilege that I get to serve God at all!
"For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness."
(Psalm 84:10)

350 Books!
I published my weekly newsletter today—and quietly slipped in the fact that I’ve given away over 350 books to my amazing readers! I’ve said it before: partnering with publishers and hosting these giveaways is one of my favorite things to do. Not only do I get books to review, but I also get to send books to others. I get to share the love. And it’s all possible because of my subscribers, followers, and fellow readers. You are my people. Thank you!
