It was hard for me to leave work on Friday. It was a busy day at the hospital. There were last-minute assignments, I had to take a call on the way home, and I found out there would be more work carried over for Monday morning. I made it back home, but my mind was still at work.
I’m writing this email newsletter on Saturday night, and I’m happy to report that I think I’m in a better headspace than I was last night. I’m sure actually being away from the hospital has helped, and I did pray about it all, but I think what helped the most was being around friends and family all day. There’s nothing like good times and belly laughs to get you into a better spot.
And I’m excited for tomorrow morning, when I get to spend time with my friends and family at church. To rest from work. To rest in worship. To be with God’s people. To be with God. I know this is what my soul needs most.
Monday morning at the hospital is still coming, but not before Sunday, when I get to be with my spiritual family, my dearest friends, and the Great Physician.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
